Thoughts from a teenager...
I am lying here dead
The music swells around my head
And my ears ring.
I can't seem to think and my eyes have to blink to keep back the tears.
The radio sings a song
Through it shows my fears.
The words of the song aren't weary, aren't long,
But I feel them, feel them, deep inside.
They tell me it's wrong to love you.
It hurts me, hurts you. It hurts.
The song repeats and the emptiness beats
In my heart it throbs
And they tell me it's wrong to die.
It hurts me, hurts you, it hurts.
They tell me my feeling is wrong - it isn't love.
I guess I’m confused. I can't really thing straight.
I tell you I love you but then tell you wait.
As I lie here dead, I hold out my hand
The music is questions I don't understand
Then silence is answers I don't hear just yet
The confusion and pain I will never forget.

You are absolutely right
Kids are always told they don't know anything - their thoughts and feelings invalidated by adults who think they know more and usually do "KNOW" better but don't "FEEL" better. Teenagers feelings are authentic, intense, and marvelous. They can also be scary.
