'by fire'
by Arthur R Phillips

Everyone has opinions on a fire.
Some will say it should be smaller, some will say it should be higher.
A televangelist will tell you it's not something to admire,
but everybody that I know wants to die by fire.

Not sure of the metaphor you were trying to relate. It needs another part to explain the desire to incinerate.

This poem arrived under my scalp while sitting around a fire pit. Rum, hotdogs, weed, good conversation. As we built the fire up, this piece popped up for me. Considering the subjects of the piece and their desire to burn, I would submit to you that they would understand what I'm going for, without having to elaborate.

I have utter fear of injury or death by fire since about the age of 4 or 5 when exposed to photos of burn victims - often RAF pilots from WWII. No thank you.
It sounds like some sort of Judeo-Christian ideal. ?

Eww no. This has nothing to do with an imaginary sky daddy.

Maybe...but I sure am not interested in dying by fire! That and drowning are not ways I want to die!
