The Darkness of My Heart
In the darkness of my heart a wonderful light was found
In her eyes a beautiful green the darkness was drowned
But that light it has faded and her eyes they’ve turned
Looking away now her love won’t be earned
The shadows consumed like the doubt she contains
A love has been lost for my love has been stained
Now I’m destined alone, since myself let us part
Our life of love lost, in the darkness of my heart
Left in despair that only I must claim
Because I became cold and extinguished her flame
I pushed her too far and so away she went
My foolish actions leave me full of lament
What could I say that could remove this mark
How could I find it when I am lost in the dark
I am longing to gaze in her eyes of green
I didn’t realize the cost would have been so extreme
I forfeited it all with a few unchoice words
Her love flew away like a murder of birds
If I had the chance I’d go back to the start
So I could stare into her eyes again...
