Many people visit Thailand each year, it’s become a very popular holiday destination, not just for backpacking students on their gap year following the hippy trail of their parents, but as a mainstream holiday destination, especially for Australians and also for Europeans despite the long-haul flight times. It’s a number of years since I’ve visited the country, although my husband Peter and I did so both for business and for leisure many times between the 1970s and 2010. Its culture of music and dance is a fascinating mixture of Chinese, Khmer and Indian due to its location in the southern part of mainland Asia. The musical instruments are similarly a mixture from the three cultures. This group perform some traditional Thai Music and dance.

Hotel and Humid gets no interest from me as a place to visit so I enjoy snippets all the more!

It gets pretty humid in Thailand. Hotels I don’t mind…I’ve lived in quite a few, good and bad!

Beautiful sound!

Very different. I felt many of the instruments were not there.

What do you mean Roger? I don't understand when you write "I felt many of the instruments were not there."

I do love the Ka'an, from Laos. Like a Pan bamboo pipe flute that sounds like a harmonica eg blow/ suck different notes..

@Redheadedgammy I felt thast there possibly two other string instruments there playing off stage. Mind you there was much more emphasis on singer and dancers.
