Following the interest shown in a song performed by a father for his autistic son that I posted yesterday I decided to go looking for the man who wrote the song. I'm pleased to say that I found him. Therefore I make the following post not only to introduce people to this great Australian songwriter and performer but make knowledge of his songs known into a wider circle who may benefit.
. The songwriter John Warner wrote some great children's songs as well as a raft of adult songs. You can listen to some at [folkjohnwarner.com]. I recommend listening to all available on the Yarri album plus the horses trilogy on the Sea and the Soil album (press?to play at John's site) . The Race was a particular favourite of mine and of course my then 11 year old daughter. Sadly Tor I Dun and the Bunyip, both great children's & adults songs are not highlighted.
If you are buying any of his cd's which I highly recommend, simply tell John or Margaret that they were recommended by the man who booked and paid for John to perform for him and his daughter on the NSW Central Coast during the bushfires about 25 years ago. Because of the fires and the change of venue no one else turned up! Please enjoy and for those facing the difficulty of autism or down's syndrome I hope this helps you in some measure.
