It's not so surprising that primitive humans created a God or gods. They were trying to understand their world. So the gods were created to explain those things that they couldn't. Like why does the rain fall or why doesn't it fall. Or why are earthquakes? And so on; we just need to grow up as a specie and walk away from the gods. To steal from Author C. Clark it's time for "Childhood End".
Man made gods, unfortunately lead to men made gods.
It is not really surprising. There never will be substantial evidence for God/gods. If there was there would be no need for faith.
1 Thessalonians 5:21 says to prove all things.
1 Corinthians 13:7 says to believe all things...
How does one do both?
@Realist9 Good point, though this is often translated as "test" or "examine" all things. Although, if you have ever talked to theists about this you probably know their idea of "proof" is anything but scientific. Sometimes they even say that they prayed, "felt" that they got an answer from God, and this constitutes proof.
@Heraclitus I still feel the same warm fuzzy feelings that I attributed to god before...it is just proof that I am.a human that is capable of having warm fuzzy feelings, lol
There are two places they see God:
1.in the wonder of the universe
2.in their hearts
Scientists are gradually explaining the first one. The Bible itself warns about the heart:
“The heart is more treacherous than anything else and is desperate. Who can know it' - Jeremiah 17:9.
Yeah, some fail to look at the dark, ugly gross sides of 'nature'/universe.
