Christians will tell you that the Jews were only the chosen people in the sense that they were chosen to give us the Bible and the Messiah. No religion on the face of the earth has been more anti-semitic or massacred more Jews than Christianity.

Having said that we have no way to know whos "gods people are" Cuz there is not even proof of a god let a lone who is people are and any thing written on his behalf would just be hear say until he got his lazy ass up and proved he was real. If that ever happened then id say maybe try to figure out what was real or false... until then quit wasting your time (religion and that bible has already stolen enough of it).

This is how I understand it. The Jews became God's chosen people because of the special relationship He formed with their ancestor Abraham. They never were special in the sense of being better quality human beings. Their own history acknowledges the many times they were anything but faithful to their god. But my dealings with Jewish people (which isn't much, to be honest) convinces me that they truly believe they are special and I find that nauseating. That claim is usually about their intellect rather than anything spiritual.

Jewish myth doesn't claim that the Jewish people were chosen by God as special or to be His favourites, but were selected to perform a specific task or, as is often claimed in Jewish literature, to bear a burden: namely, to be "a light unto other nations," or live good and honest lives and be a force for good in the world - and, as breaking the promise to do so would also break the covenant with God, to face harsh punishment otherwise... God tells Amos "You only have I singled out of all the families of the earth: therefore will I visit upon you all your iniquities."

In fact, Judaism teaches that "Righteous people of all nations have a share in the world to come" (Sanhedrin 105a). Judaism, and Jews, are no better nor worse than any other religion or people, of course; however, he misconception that "chosen people" means Jews consider themselves to be better than anyone else has fueled a great deal of antisemitism, hence the need to correct it.
