Anyone else suffering catastrophe indifference?

As i cast my eyes over ABC reports of flooded coastal NSW, I am ashamed to admit I feel only a small relief that it is not where I live. If it's not droughts and fires, it's floods and plagues. Maybe I've lived too long and run out fucks to give.

Yes, one of the many guinea pigs I have owned. They are like puppies who never grow up. Dogs are more like children. I wish children were more like dogs. =0}

We are not supposed to live in some areas. But humans continue to try & do so. Too many humans. Not enough safe living areas.

I think here in Australia there should be more than standing-room-only of high ground. I was upset that no one rescued the dog from the house that sailed down the Manning.
Is that your guinea pig? How adorable. We used to have piggies. Love my turtles and dog...... probably more than most people. 😉

When it comes to climate change, yes a bit. It seems to me people could do some homework and make some considered choices. Prime seafront is expensive, but hinterland safer. People insist in living in areas that are difficult to insure, it’s never made sense to me.

But everyday atrocities by sentient brings? no they still horrify me, like our hiking friend.

Hmm. I returned home yesterday after a week awa y to find that I had turned two freezers off when I flipped the circuit switches before I left. About 50 kgs of meat wasted.

Add to that it smells like a small animal has died under the villa or in the cavity wall. The pong is noisome. And the villa is on a concrete slab.
Am I concerned - yes but not in a panic about it so long as it doesn't infect me. ATM Eucalypt oil vapourising in the heating bowl is great until it runs out of water & starts to burn. Then the smell is worse than rotting maggot infested rat, mouse or whatever it is that has died.
As for floods, droughts, mice plagues, locusts, corrupt politicians, godbotherers, serial killers etc. - that's just par for the course in Australia.
What' ya whinging about?

Eek. yes haven't we all been there at some stage. Glad I stopped eating meating tho. Rotting vegies are not nearly as bad as meat.

@MsDemeanour ugh ugh, one of the digusting odours came from a rotting grapefruit - nearly as bad as a spud that's gone feral.

Not me. I feel heartsick about the brutal rape and torture of women in Ethiopia. They are prevented from escaping.

Well as the poem goes, Australia IS the Land of Droughts and Flooding Rains.
By why, in the name of all things logical and reasonable have they NOT figured out a way to RETAIN these flood waters rather than simply letting it ALL flow out sea?
