Okay, so EVERYONE in the Far Western Region of New South Wales, Broken Hill in particular are supposed to be in Strict Lockdown Conditions thanks to the person of Indigenous origin who attended the funeral of a member of the Bugmy family in Wilcannia just over a week ago AND those who traveled to from Dubbo bringing the virus with them.
For there 'wondrous' ( NOT) efforts they have infected over 20+ persons in Wilcannia in a week, spread the virus through almost every township in the Far West from the Queensland Border down to the Border at Wentworth on the N.S.W.com/S.A. and Victorian borders, infect and hospitalised 3 people in Broken Hill and that wonderful ( not) personage from the Maari Maa Aboriginal Health Centre who brought the virus to Broken Hill is, assumedly, home isolating.
What I'd like to know is this.
IF EVERYONE is supposed to in Lockdown conditions and the Police are enforcing them, WHY,

  1. Are there homeless people camping on the streets around town?
On Wednesday, last week, after getting my 6 monthly Blood Tests done and traveling back home by Bus, I noticed that there ARE 3 Homeless persons camping around the CBD, 1 camping in front of the Aged Persons Rest Centre, 1 camping in the walk-way between the Town Hall Facade and, get this, THE POLICE STATION and another camping in a shop doorway in Argent Street ( the MAIN STREET btw) just a city block away from the Police Station,
What are the Police/Authorities gong to do about these itinerant persons who may well be either carrying the virus or spreading it since they are well known to be found wandering the streets freely 24/7?
YES, I know they are homeless, I know they are people just as am I and everyone else, BUT these are dire times, WHERE are the Religious Charitable Organisations,WHT have they NOT stepped in and at least given these unfortunates even temporary accommodations during this Lockdown/Pandemic or does that go against the supposed teachings of the Founder of their Beliefs system?
  2. IF the City Council or the Health Authorities are/were so intent on ' sanitising' areas of the CBD then why just stop at 'scouring, scrubbing and spraying' the Post Office corner, colloquially known as "Corroborrie Corner", would NOT the very FIRST and FOREMOST place ti hit hard and fast be the Maari Maa Aboriginal Health Centre where the 'Spreader' works from and then work their way backwards along HER tracks?

I know here in Darwin there have been groups going out and giving the rough sleepers/long grassers (as they are called) masks, hand sanitiser, wipes and explaining to them what they have to do. I know that getting shelter for them is often difficult as many don't want to stay in the shelters. I know that they have been using them as I was in the city and saw them walking around with their masks on.

We have some dedicated groups to work with the local indigeonous people to help get them into accommodation.
As for funerals a very dear friend died her son and siblings live in New Zealand they could not come over. Two granddaughters live in the southern states and while one could come up the other could not. The funeral was zoomed so they could see and hear but were unable to attend. I get that it is tough (had she died a week later then the funeral would only have had her daughter, son in law and grandson at it if even that was allowed)

I think there should be heavy penalties for those that break quarantine or lockdown orders.

I want to travel again, I want to visit my Aunt again as we don't know how much longer she has, I want to go to Geekventions again, I want to get to a Byron Blues and Roots Festival but I won't while this is going on as I don't need the grief of bringing this disease back to the NT even unwittingly. I am fully vaxed but with the delta variant the vaccine is not guaranteed to offer full protection and I could still carry it back here.
