In the eye of the beholder is a fair exchange. However some eyes require strong lenses to correct deficiencies.
Until Australia adopts a completely NEW Constitution that; A) ALL Companies, etc, MUST have a 51% ownership by the People, including Public Assets, etc, B) NO Government may sell off ANY Public Assets without first having an agreement of 99% of the Population, C) ALL resources, natural or man-made BELONG to the People and ONLY to the people at large, D) ALL Political Parties SHALL NOT enter into coalitions with other parties and doing so will result in those parties being de-registered for a term no less than 10 years and with fines not less than $1 Million Dollars imposed upon EACH party involved, and last but by no means least, E) removes ANY opportunity/opportunities of Tax Dodging and makes the dodgers fully liable for Legal Prosecution and lengthy prison sentences and actually rewards the 'Whistle-blowers' rather than persecuting them.
Until such occurs we will always be in the shit we find ourselves in now.

Difficult to impose if foreigners and foreign companies own the companies. We have seen how America, France, UK, China, Japan, Germany invade even when they do not own property but just lust after it! Think what nationalisation will result in!
@FrayedBear For far too long we have let OUR country and people be EXPLOITED by other nations, it started with the Poms and has continued ever since.
The time has come for US to shout ENOUGH is Enough, stand up and be counted and deliver a truly FAIR Deal for everyone who lives here or ever WILL live here in the future BEFORE it IS too late.
@Triphid Sadly the politicians are only interested in their reelection in four years time. They couldn't give a brass razoo for the children and grandchildren and this selfishness goes right down to council levels. I proved this 30 years ago when a proposal to sand mine and remove toxic sludge from Brisbane Water despite removing the need to pay rates for ten years was turned down largely because of ignorance. The cost of removing the toxic sludge exponentially increases with each year and the Brisbane Waters continue to fill with sand abraded from the surrounding hills.
@FrayedBear Yes, I know of the Eureka Stockade and the Flag plus what the miners stood up for and died.
I live in a town where the local miners went on strike, police were called in to break up the massive strike and the police eventually lost the battle or simply gave up the fight. The miners were fighting for better conditions, better wages, etc, the things that B.H.P. did NOT want to give them just like the Miners at Eureka were also fighting for. Lest We forget applies to them as well in my mind.
But, sadly, people HAVE forgotten and here we are today, controlled by government corruption and multi-national corporations who couldn't give a fig for anything or anyone except their profits.
The rampant complacency and apathy rife in this country is KILLING Australia, it IS almost beyond time for the People to stand up and say NO MORE.
