Beautiful and kind of mysterious!
And just a thought, before you put $$$ into a new camera, maybe experiment with lighting. My dad was a photo nut waaay before digital. He had Klieg lights, fergawdssake, all i remember about any occasion is being blinded, but his 8mm movies of us, now on disc, are stunning.
I have also consider lighting!
And I want the doors to be mysterious--glad you see it this way.
The colors flow beautifully on my screen. I love this one! It tickles curiosity with a promise of safety and warmth inside through the door.
I want people to wonder what is beyond door--and whatever they imagine is what is there.
I am glad that the colors flow on your side!
That looks like a labor of love! Very impressive.
Thank you! I love making quilts, but they are stacking up in the spare bedrooms. I think that there are 9 or 10. If I don't find an outlet to sell them, there will be 100s before I die!
So to make these you need to have a basic quilt or blanket inside another? Images of you working on them would help us!
I piece the top on my sewing machine, sewing the pieces together that make the design. I applique the door and other items, which means I cut out the design and lay it over the background colors and sew it on by going around the edges. I just sew the strips together on the machine.
Then, I have 3+ yards of very wide fabric which I use for the back. I use polyester batting--just a big piece of fluffy material. I lay the top on my bed and use a spray adhesive to bond the batting to it. Then, I use the adhesive to attach the backing, making sure that there are no wrinkles (which is HARD). Basically, I have a sandwich of the top, the batting, and the backing. Then, I lay it over my dining room table and stitch the layers together--this is the actual "quilting" process.
A blanket could be used instead of the batting, but it is hard to hand quilt as blankets are not as light as the batting and is harder to stitch.
Some people use a quilting frame, but I never learned how to do so. Some people have quilting machines and do the stitching together on the machine. I prefer to hand quilt for several reasons--one is because I don't like the look of machine quilting and another is that I find the quilting process by hand meditative. I listen to audiobooks while I quilt.
I don't use the designs of other people; I think I have made two quilts with patterns I found online. You will not see any other quilts like mine.
Maybe I will take some pics of the process if you are truly interested.
@Gwendolyn2018 Pics would help tremendously!
@Robecology when I make a new one, I will try to remember to take some pics.

Posted by Gwendolyn2018Latest castle quilt--a small one for a couch or a child. I have about four tops needing to be quilted, but I keep getting distracted by ideas for new tops.
Posted by NoSheepI finished the Jellybean quilt. Not completely happy with it, but my sewing machine decided that straight stitching is all it would do for such thick material on the binding .
Posted by JolantaHow pretty.
Posted by NoSheepMy latest quilt has a back story.
Posted by KynleiI drew this over the course of a few days last week.
Posted by Gwendolyn2018I have posted these pics of my quilts in the General Forum, so apologies to those who have already seen them!
