I'm absolutely thrilled that my shoulder injury that I aggravated back in June has healed enough that I can start working out and climbing again! It is a bit of a shock to realize how much strength and fitness I have lost in that time, but yesterday was encouraging. I was able to toprope a total of six laps on two different 5.10 overhanging crack climbs without falling or hanging. I rested between tries except for once when I did two laps back to back. Feeling pretty spry for my age. Midlife crisis is my super power!

Is it a challenge to find warm rock there in October?

Smith rock is almost always climbable in October. Here in western Oregon it is more of a crap shoot. Right now the weather is perfect. I went up yesterday to a local crag and did 8 laps. Only did two leads due to my recovering shoulder and did nothing harder than 10a/b, but it felt amazing! How are things in your part of the country?
@Mostly_Harmless I don't have a climbing partner, other than my son, and he is busy with school a lot. Stone Mtn NC is 3.5 hours. it is a white granite dome that faces south and climbabe year rounds, except in the summer it is too hot.
So I am basically a hiker for now.
I have climbed in Smith a little, and on some crags outside Portland.
Well, if you are ever in this part of the country and need a climbing partner, give me a shout.
