She represents everything that is wrong in the U.S. right now. I used to have my students read The Virtue of Selfishness in the second term of the freshman writing sequence. It always generated interesting discussions and essays.

Thank you kindly. Again, Rand is contrast to Goldman. I enjoy diversity and in reading the two women, I saw difference. Rand is writing from a fictional point, however, she is writing out her belief system and how things ought to be. Goldman, on the other hand, was quite the opposite of Rand being an anarchist after the Haymarket riots. Goldman stood for more than herself.
I thank you kindly. My bio is word soup and cannot reflect my complexity. It is what I write at the moment; a nice slice of what is. Ayn is the contrast to Emma. It is through contrast that things are recognized. Thank you for being able to overlook Rand. I understand why you disapprove of her. Her mind was politically twisted. ? However, that did not stop me from enjoying her novel.

If you are talking about reading Atlas Shrugged or Emma Goldman’s Living My Life, please do. You won’t be disappointed.
Ayn is the contrast to Emma. Emma lived the life and Ayn wrote what I deemed a good book. Do I agree with her philosophy? No. Do I agree with Emma’s philosophy? Not entirely, but more so than Ayn. Can I love their work? Absolutely.
