Question

Please bare with me. There is a point to all this jargonation.
I have never experience writer's block and I doubt I ever will, but I am not without a weakness in the craft. I have an opposite affliction. Sometimes I simply have to many ideas cramming into the space of my imagination which makes it difficult to concentrate on one story. So I end up starting story, after story after....most of which get filed away in the, Maybe I'll get back to this one later, file.
Every now and then I stop. I go out and do something that has nothing to do with the creative process, like, splitting wood, or obsessing over the the lawns and gardens, or clearing the drive of snow in such a neat and orderly fashion that it looks like it was built that way instead of carved.
I have just ended a brief hiatus from the creative stream, catching up on life beyond my imagination. I was rifling through old files, some set aside three years ago. In one file I found a fantasy story that was 4000 words in length. I decide to read through it. Though it really needs some spelling and grammar editing my thought was, Holy Crap. Did I right that?
Tonight I resurrected the story and added to it and now I believe I will move forward and finish the tale, my head cleared of noise from dozens of other story lines. To say...I am focus...

I think most of us have a maybe someday file. Sometimes the stack gets so high I do a global delete and move on. I can do that now. Before, when we worked paper, the stack was real. I did global deletes then as well, but it involved sacking up a bundle and moseying out to the trash. Much more convenient these days.

I suffer in similar ways. I am 10 years with working through the voices of the stories and i have really decided the best way for me is to have one main project. I do notes and write a bit on other work, but if i get stuck on my main project, i like to do a short story, start to finish, breathe and then return to my main story. It works for me.
