Even the Washington Post acknowledged that we are there under false pretenses. AND YET:
In the latest National Defense Authorization Act, mighty little Ilhan Omar, the last Democrat George McGovern might have recognized as an ally, attempted to introduce an amendment that would force Trump to put up or shut up and make establishing a plan for complete withdrawal from Afghanistan a top priority. I'm not shocked that it failed, but I am physically disgusted that the amendment received twice as much support from the GOP as it did among Ilhan's own damn party.
Who here still believes in the Democratic Party?

After all, it was the Democrats, in their brief post-Nixon peacenik era no less, that started this horror show. A lot of people forget that the godfather of modern Wahhabi terrorism is none other than that plainspoken dove from peanut country, Jimmy Carter, who cooked up what became known to Beltway insiders as the Afghan Trap with his creepy proto-neocon sidekick, Zbigniew Brzezinski. After a communist revolution provoked unrest among Afghanistan's ancient mountain tribes, Jimmy and Zbig decided to turn the regional upheaval into a full blown civil war so as to lure the Afghan's already economically stagnant neighbors in the Soviet Union into their own private Vietnam. Under White House direction, the Saudis rounded up the mercenary psychopaths who would eventually become Al-Qaeda and we armed, trained, and organized them in Pakistan before shipping them out to the Hindu Kush to sling dope, kill Russians, and throw acid in the faces of commie coeds who dared to leave the veil at home. And the rest is horror movie history.
America's longest war didn't even begin in 2002. It began in 1978, and Democrats have played a key roll in that Himalayan bloodbath from the first drop.}
Then Reagan expanded that to Latin America. Iran-Contra. Iran-Iraq war. This is why a program of perception management became necessary for the establishment and deep state apparatus of intelligence agencies to control public opinion as this perpetual warring was beginning to take place. Clinton and the democratic party push through an awaiting NAFTA bill and begin wars throughout Eastern Europe. Hot spots in Africa---massacres. Begin installing capitalism in Russia. Iraq sanctions - Half a million dead Iraqi children. Monopolize the media to 6 corporate giants, expanding the propaganda campaign towards conditioning the public through a 24/7 infortainment for profit system now totally neglecting the 4th estates given purpose. Media refuses to cover this era due to false glorification of Reagan and Bush Sr. even though evidence is still coming out to criminal acts mid way through the Clinton terms.
Which drives Robert Parry out of main stream corporate media to beginning the new age of independent journalism. The perception management program and propaganda campaign worked so well though that most Americans can't tell what reality is. {A lot of people forget that the godfather of modern Wahhabi terrorism is none other than that plainspoken dove from peanut country, Jimmy Carter} it really isn't that they forgot, but they've been distracted by the 24/7 infortainment program to follow never ending falsely manufactured narratives. These programing agendas only provide the information they want the public to believe. The public no longer has the attention span to keep up or seek reality. Even when it is presented to them they can't handle the truth, they've become compliant.
A very questionable 9/11 begins the new era of a war on terrorism. Same terrorist Carter created but now many more fractions come from within. Again being created and funded by Bush, then Obama, now Trump. New cold war. Say hello to a new country added in this time. Russia meet China, China meet Russia. There are so many sanctions on countries and people around the globe it's impossible for me to keep up with. But I assure you they are all a disguise towards hiding crimes and creating innocent deaths to add on to millions of other unneeded deaths. !Murder!

In other words. If you can't take or find the time to educate yourselves to the reality of the real world, don't fucking vote anymore. Leave it up to those of us who are logically keeping track.

@altschmerz Well exactly. He was into warfare before he was appointed to persuade the need to go to war. That man epitomises evil to my mind. He used to come fishing up here armed with huge black helicopters.
I'm a moderate centrist. But sometimes I'm staggered by such stupidity on both sides of the aisle. We need a third party..

@altschmerz Canada population about 35 million. California? My own federal constituency has less than 70,000 people electing one member of Parliament. Some constituency as small as 25,000. Yes when I ran as a Green Party candidate I ran against three big parties as well as a right wing Christian and a Marxist-Leninist. The NDP once had an indigenous leader as their candidate against me. Federally one must put up $1,000 and get 100 signatures (signers do not have to vote for you but must be in the constituency). You get your money returned when all your paperwork has been checked.

You have at least 2 good 3rd parties. The Green Party and the Socialist Equality Party. But even you have shown no interest in supporting either one. You have already stated here that you intend on voting for more of the same by voting for Biden. A man with 50 years of experience of supporting everything wrong with our country. You, as young as you are, seem to be willing to stay compliant to the very system that is going to grow worse for your generation and your children's should you have them or any.
While I have my doubts on the Green Party, I would support them for a chance in change. But many people in your age group highly identify today with the Marxist socialism found within the Socialist Equality Party. If I were in your shoes looking at the future staring at you I would be so outspoken for this party within my circle to educate those around me, as I do.
Nicky just outlined over 5 decades of a growing totalitarian government that has gradually become quite close to fascism as it can get. Your concern today should be (when do they come after me?)
I'm not going to be around a whole lot longer. Someone will have to pick up the pieces here when I'm gone for your generation and those to come. ???...???

@Cutiebeauty As a Green Party candidate many times over I found that attitude so incredibly frustrating. Why on earth can't people vote for what they want instead of against what they supposedly don't want. The fact is that all major parties vie for votes and so become very similar to attract those votes. Sadly since around 1960 the western world has steadily been moving to the right because of ever increasing elite and industrial control of politics.

@Cutiebeauty What I found was that people mostly vote either for a candidate because they know her/him or they always vote that way without really caring about the details or the party says one thing that makes the voter feel the voter's life would be better. Or they vote against the other major party because although they do not like many aspects of the party they are voting for, they really don't want the other major party to win. They know that a third party candidate would really much better represent their views but, as you said, they cannot imagine that party winning. So big money is poured into the top two contenders giving them a huge advantage but ensuring that their loyalties lie with big money. In this process, politics mores very slowly, but persistently, to the right and big money wishes. Parties do not need to care about the wishes of the electorate as they know that they control elections. It is much worse in the USA than in Canada but we have the same voting against rather than for attitudes. People in my province will still vote NDP because they hate the BC Liberals and forget that the NDP has policies which many of their voters hate.
