Why Study the Russian Revolution?
The Russian Revolution of 1917 marked a new stage in world history. It proved that an alternative to capitalism was not a utopian dream, but a real possibility that could be achieved through the conscious political struggle of the working class.
The International Committee of the Fourth International (ICFI) marked the centenary of the Russian Revolution in 2017 with an extensive series of lectures examining the significance and lessons of the revolution, and its impact around the world.
The Russian Revolution of 1917 ranks among the most significant events in world history. One hundred years after the coming to power of the Bolshevik Party, the bitter controversy that still surrounds discussion of the revolution testifies to its enduring impact and relevance.

Throughout the video you'll find the initial revolution of the working class against the capitalist provisional government headed by Alexander Kerensky and established the first workers’ state in world history. The formation of the working class leaders headed primarily by Vladimir Lenin and Leon Trotsky. Conditions that WWl created within the movement during and after. Then the betrayals and the formation of Stalinist which Lenin joined to secure another capitalist structure. The involvements of western governments to work against the Marxist in the revolution and within their own countries this era was facing. With an open mind, you should be able to recognize how this era closely resembles what we're witnessing around us on a global scale today.
