@Allamanda I eat only local beef, pork, vegetables, and fruit, with some exceptions, but the exceptions are because what I get is not local, obviously. I live in a garden.

@dalefvictor A lot of people here say the same thing. My question to them is (or was since going off-island has been restricted) when they go off-island do they become vegetarians. Usually all I get is a laugh but no answer.

For decades I have proposed hunting licenses for all who buy "meat" in stores or cooked.....this license money helps expand and protect Wildlife Habitats AND makes carnivores "aware" they are paying animal killers for "food"...... year 2 a license can only be renewed by working the kill floor one hour per year .....look your victims in the eye b4 you murder them smell death hear death watch the light of life go out in their eyes.....year 3 far fewer licences will be renewed and less animal cadaver sliced or ground into bloody packages of muscle bone and organs ...less shoe leather also

@Allamanda that is better but there’s still the point of why kill if one doesn’t need to. To the point of the post I don’t believe someone can call themselves an animal lover and still eat animals.

@JackPedigo I do not go anywhere over twenty five miles away, some of the local sources for vegetables are just over that far away. Puget Island, which is just up the Columbia River from Astoria, grows much of the local food.

@dalefvictor Interesting I have heard of islands in the Columbia before. I should look into these islands. Fidalgo Island is separated by the Skagit.
