MrLizard comments on Mar 10, 2019:
I do identify myself as bi. Do I need the label? Yes... but only because I was questioning for about 25 years. The label is comforting to me, for the time being. I want to me a member of the LGBTQ community because I am still learning about it all and love talking about my sexuality with people who understand, to one extent or another. Someday, I may drop the label because, in the end, it doesn't much matter. But here and now, and especially in this forum, the label is helpful for me. I'm in a loving monogamous relationship with a woman, right now and, hopefully, forever. I think I could be attracted romantically and sexually to a transman or transwoman or genderfluid person, etc. That would make me pansexual. But I am not *looking* for someone to become romantic or sexual with. So I have no idea if my assumptions are true. So - while I may be pan, I stick with the label I'm sure of.

MrLizard comments on Mar 7, 2019:
Florida, where I live, is such a bizarre state. I'm in a county with a fair percentage of Trumpsters. All nearby counties are rural and extremely Trump-friendly. Yet our city (Gainesville) ranked quite high on being LGBTQ friendly. It helps that we're home to a mojor university. Same for several Broward County cities like Fort Lauderdale, Oakland Park, and especially Wilton Manors. It's like the state has multiple personalities and now that I'm out, it makes me sick to see our legislators trying to pass idiotic laws or repeal fair ones.

I was similar when younger... though not much of a true nerd. I tried to be, though. There are women who like that sorta thing, so just keep dating until you find the right fit. However, I will warn you that not driving can cause issues for some people. Unless you live in a big city like New York, there are some who will judge you by this... and it can come across as a negative if the woman you date ends up driving you all over the place. She might feel she's being "used" as a taxi service. I knew a woman who was afraid to learn how to drive. She actually did use me, my ex-wife- and our friend as a taxi service. It grew old very quickly.

MrLizard comments on Mar 3, 2019:
It's happened to a lot of us. I was in a very short relationship and felt a connection very quickly. In some ways, it may have been because I *wanted* to feel it so much. That didn't make it any less real. We both agreed the connection was there. But she could not get over one small speed bump and totally disconnected us. If she was unwilling to accept me as I am, then she was not the right person for me. I gave up on her, after several weeks (months) of sadness. I, too, fantasized that maybe something would happen to bring us together, but the memories of that speed bump would always be there. And the fantasy was just that. So I went back to the drawing board and tried something new. That's when I found this site and, eventually, Connie. I was lucky. It happened relatively soon. But I'd still be exploring new lifestyles, new friends, and new experiences all with new hopes, even if I'd never met her.

Have you ever thought that your "imperfections" might just make you perfect in someone else's eyes
MrLizard comments on Mar 2, 2019:
No. But only because perfection is an unrealistic goal. Anyone who expects perfection from me is going to cause me anxiety. Anyone who thinks I need or want perfection from them, is a poor match for me. I don't "cherish" most imperfections, either. I'd still rather you* not* have that hideous scar from the knee surgery or the receding hairline, or the tiny penis or the inverted nipple, etc. It's just that those things aren't road blocks to a relationship. They can also be initiators of great conversation and opportunities to learn more about each other.

MrLizard comments on Mar 2, 2019:
Grapes seem kinda sweet for chocolate. That may be why bittersweet is called for and why they're coated in cocoa. Having been a chocolatier, I avoid use of the discs of "chocolate coating" used for dipping. They're much easier to work with, but they're not real chocolate. The discs from Wilton aren't too bad, if you still need to use them due to time or other constraints. I'm not judging, if you used that stuff, though. Just my opinion. I wasn't too sure what you meant by "melting chocolate". Working with real chocolate takes time, patience, and a good thermometer, since it has to be tempered. You could be a bit off temper for these, since they're cocoa covered. Streaks in the chocolate won't show.

MrLizard comments on Mar 1, 2019:
In South Florida, especially for folks within the 954- area code, people get automated scam calls from a number that's very close to their own. Not a total spoof, but enough to make you curious. My cell phone still uses that area code, so I do get one or two a week. Not long ago, I mistakenly answered one of these calls because the phone rang while I was driving and I was expecting a call. I have hands-free phone capability and didn't look at the screen that closely. So I didn't realize it was a robo-scam number coming through. Pleasantly, I say, "Hello." The guy goes off on a rant, cussing at me for calling his God-damned phone all the time. Apparently, the computer that dials somehow rang *both* our phones simultaneously, and connected us together. I calmed him down and commiserated about also getting those calls on my God-damned phone. It was a bizarre experience.
