In some countries education for women is forbidden. Those are the countries with the highest fertility rates and there even women feel as if it's their duty to have lots of kids. Unfortunately, these are the countries that often feel the need to move to greener pastures (like more developed countries). I think I mentioned I donate to a group dedicated to educating women and men. It's called Engender Health. https://www.engenderhealth.org/

@Betty All true but sometimes there's another item at play - simply human (or maybe it's common among other animals instincts. I once submitted a study where people of different income levels were asked how much, percentage-wise would they need to feel secure. In almost all cases those in higher brackets needed more to feel secure. Low income needed maybe 2%, middle went up to maybe 5% and upper brackets needed 10% or even more. Everything is relative and the more money one has the less significant are smaller amounts. If that makes sense.

@Marionville Unfortunately, the problem is much more complicated. Years ago I sat in on a town Hall (Seattle) question on whether or not to make English the national language. There was a huge crowd and they were segregated into the yes and no side. There were 2 Latino on the no side and they kept spouting racism. A woman across the aisle leaned over and told me these guys were making her so mad she about changing sides (to the yes side). There were 2 women on the yes side. One was Chinese who represented the UN. She said it is perfectly normal for countries to have a basic language and some countries like Switzerland have 3 or more. The other woman represented the Seattle school district. She said there were 130+ different languages being spoken in the district. Some were very rare. The districts hire IA (instructor assistants) to help but with these unusual languages the rules are waived so long as they spoke the language. She went on to say with all the translations, nighttime classes to learn English, programs as bootstrap (slow immersion in English) and many more the district was financially strapped. Money was being taken from special ed to fund all the needs of the immigrant population (which included special ed). My late partner was an elementary teacher for an international school in Seattle and almost every day I heard stories. One was unbelievable. People don't realize it costs a lot of money to education non-citizens. To many it just another racist, emotional issue. It is not. This is just on small example of the problems the world is having trying to assimilate more and more of us. That's what that study is all about. Pro growth corporations say technology is the answer but look at where 'technology' is taking us (don't if you want to sleep).

He was well off living and working in Dubai. He was getting ready to retire but would have to go back (including his family) to Iran when he retired. There would be little life for the family in Iran. She said no. Reason being #1 her younger brother had asked that previously. She knew he was lazy and she would be supporting him from then on. They were already in Iran and okay. She could not say no to one brother and yes to the other. Besides he had another option (which he took) to go to Canada. He did and the whole family is now in Vancouver BC which, coincidentally is the center for Iranians in Canada. Everyone (kids included) are very successful there.

As time went on I changed mine and left parts to FFRF (made me a memorial member), The Nature Conservancy and a group known as Engender Health. Later, her kids became very successful and she wanted to change hers to the Humanist's group, Planned Parenthood and the local domestic violence awareness group. But she had to okay that with her kids. That didn't happen until they were all together in the hospital while she was getting diagnosed for her brain tumor. They told her, mom, we don't need your peanuts so we did a new will. Unfortunately, She lost the ability to speak, read and write. Her old will got torn up but she didn't officially sign the new will so it was invalid. In 2013 we were re-unit with my daughter (long story). She was the be the executor with a fee plus an added bonus. I also wrote some codicils changing the will and added my late wife's wishes to my will. With a codicil one can make changes easily. Right now thinks are in a flux so it's just a matter of paying attention and waiting.

It's not so much about right and wrong but who adheres to the rules. In this case (and in the case of Russia and Ukraine) clearly one side as overstepped the bounds. One also needs to remember the Zionists, from early on, also decided to eliminate the Palestinians. They are the ones who got Netanyahu elected and he is responsible for the excesses of violence.

These are the bombs in use today (aside from the so called 'tactical bombs). When I graduated for a university guess who was the guest speaker - Edward Teller. Not much of a claim for the good. At the time it was all about escalating to see who had the most powerful bomb so others would dare not attack them. Look where's that gotten us.

I did tell her I was thinking of going over to a commercial executor and she seemed hurt. She said she is willing to do the work (she has real estate experience as well as contract reading). Long story but a very independent and strong woman has been turned into an escapist due to her mother leaving me and marrying a drunken soldier (literally). They had another daughter right away and my daughter was the child not wanted so she endured a lot. She once told me she lived the Cinderella life and is still waiting for prince charming. She needs help in overcoming her enabling tendencies and I offered to pay but she's too proud to accept any money from me. Still we talk and she listens.

@annewimsey500 LOL, this was or is the belief of too many, including my dad. Problem is, something has to break before it gets any attention. I am a total believer in being pro-active and trying to not let things get to the 'breaking' stage. If we don't take care of our health we often get to the breaking stage of cancer. That happened to my mom when something she thought was cancer (it had no symptoms other than a swelling) turned out to be cancer that had spread (ovarian). She suffered for months with chemo which was too late.

Thanks for you comment. I didn't realize Facebook had a dating site and will look into it. Unfortunately, these days for profit often means that greed becomes a part of the formula. Before I met my late partner/wife I was a member of several dating groups (not sites like today but clubs). I met a lot of interesting women (in both directions good and bad). Then a brother-in-law, who lives in Dallas - where I'm from, called and said he found the perfect woman for me. I called and we talked over 2 months and then met. We did a distance relationship for months that ended in marriage and it was wonderful. She was in a previous horrible marriage (I've been married, divorced and lived with another for 12 years that also ended). The point is having someone who knows both parties and be willing to take time to really get to know another is critical. My partner died in 2016 with a perfect, easy death and her bucket list was overflowing (I was also very happy). Too many are looking for 'chemistry' which seems easy but is also a no-brainer (meaning no real, tangible information). How many marry or get together because of chemistry and then find it was not a good match. Luck is definitely a critical part but sometimes people make their own luck. Thanks for the comment. I joined in 2017 and a few of us got bumped out (due to logging on with FB which then created it's own agnostic group (I was level 9.3). This last time (level 7.6) the site shut down for 3 days, which I didn't know and I tried to change my password which only made things worse.

Hi Anne it's me again (for the 3rd time). I lost my connection at the last shutdown of the site. I added some pictures from my first two times. I've given this issue a lot of thought and the word 'chemistry' keeps popping up. Everyone says they want to get to know the other first but then want to meet asap to see if there's chemistry. My first marriage was totally, 100% chemistry and it was a mess so I know how that works. One would think from divorcees one would have learned their lesson. With bars its about chemistry + alcohol ad bad mix but still people do it. So far I've not had anyone asking for money but do meet a lot of liars. It's hard enough being my age and living on an island but to then deal with ghoster's, obfuscaters and an increasing greedy organization is too much. I have met women with whom I feel attracted. Often I get to know some of these women better and every time I've asked myself what the hell was I thinking! With my late partner the chemistry was not there but the knowledge was and that made all the difference.

When we visited he asked if we wanted to ride his sofa. It was a long sofa with a tiller in the middle and a fireplace structure hiding the motor. We rode it around the neighborhood. He than said we probably were wondering what this was about (we were) and he said they are big burning man fans and they take this sofa in their huge RV to the event and offer rides to others. Her husband then said to call 911 as she was having a minor stroke (she was on a med but forgot to take it). Later, in the newsletter it was said she was fine after taking her med and then I asked for them to contact me, which they did. We visited them and the husband was a retired Canadian Airline pilot and had a large house on a bluff looking south (to our island archipelago - they did look down on us).
