Education is important. Traditionally, most time spend at the university is listening to lecturers. A fee for lectures at the university should be charged because free education on the Internet is available. Topics that used to be lectured at the university should be promoted on the Internet and should be made easy to navigate. Many experiments can be done at home. Free software for programing and firmware and applications for recording data can be downloaded. Micro-controller boards, sensor boards and actuators are just a few dollars if ordered from China. A small fee should apply for admission tests to permit self educated students to gain further experience at research institutions and to permit students to get exotic material for experiments and to use expensive research apparatus. No fee should be charged for research activity. The public pays and the students provide the public with free information about their research activity and results.
Germany does it. We are supposed to be the greatest nation on earth, except the 1% are quickly turning is into a third world nation by buying the government and creating a two class system. Despicable.
@atheist yes they are!!!! I love that!
there used to be in england but your marks had to be good to get to a top university. now in the states your easiest route to assistance is sport. what relevance does sport have with furthering ones society. a dark road we navigate when the top paid civil servant in many states is the f---ing football coach. try scientist and pass on the patent to the public good like they did in canada for insulin
Yes, it seems like such a no-brainer to make education free, but greed makes those in power want an uneducated public that they can more easily control and manipulate. Religion plays a big role in limiting the free flow of ideas and free thought.
Absolutely! Given that it vastly improves people's lives, I have to assume that the naysayers are from the same group that doesn't want universal health care: they're too worried about the lazy elements in society getting something for nothing at their expense. It's ridiculous.
If they can't accept it as caring for their fellow human beings, they should at least be able to see it as a cost-effective measure to keep people independent of public services, and equipped with the tools needed to provide for themselves and their family.
Yes! There is a lot of knowledge that is not put to good use, because people can't afford a good education. It is for everybody's benefit that everybody reaches their potential.
