IMO the reason that right wing news outlets like Fox News and conservatives are always pulling the "persecution" card and stressing their religious views so much is that they want to tie thier politics and religion together. Why? Because we have an unwritten rule that we don't question anyone's faith beliefs. If you tie your religion to your politics then it becomes off limits to question someone's politics too. It's basically just a clever way of avoiding critical scrutiny of someone's politics and thoughts on public policy. Thoughts?
