Just joined, hello! On the gender section...

Hello and thanks for taking the time to read this question.

Now on the gender section when I was joining I was asked my gender in a non-binary sense, I do not speak out of disrespect, but I find it bewildering on a website that is around science and rational of reality that it has so swiftly given in to the subject of gender, this discussion is far from confirmed or has a clear result on what is gender, the relationship between gender identity and biological sex.

I would like peoples open view on this topic as it is one that is only growing.

To outline my own position -

I believe there are 2 sexes (Male, Female) and a area of abnormalities that also appear in nature (Intersex) but this makes up a small percentage of people.

You do get to say what gender you feel you are, you do get to identify as that, you do get to make any cosmetic alterations and surgical alterations you wish.

I do not have to accept this perception of reality you have, but I will also not go out my way to offend, mock or disrespect you.

If someone is transitioning and they want to be addressed using certain pronouns, is it really such a hardship to oblige?

And if the person(s) in question look like the gender they identify as to you, you have no choice but to accept what your eyes are telling you, so your point is moot. In those specific cases, of course.

Welcome to the community. Nature created just two sexes, anything else is a human creation.
