I wonder what is it about the Hubble telescope , that makes all the stars glitter with a small white cross ?

I think it has to do with the lens. Most any time you photograph light, you usually get some sort of lines from the light passing through the lens. I think it's more prominent with telescopes as they reflect the light with mirrors after it passes through the lens.
