Thankfully that position has already been reached here in Australia, with the influence of the religious lobby now having been severely reduced. Unfortunately there are still a number of quite reactionary politicians who see themselves as defenders of the faith doing everything they can to try and halt the trend, even though they are often the butt of political jokes for their efforts.
