THIS IS FUNNY
I am watching this series called BRITANNIA on Amazon Prime. The Romans are there to conquer the tribal people of BRITANNIA. There are the Druids and their god's, and the Roman god's, and the soldiers fear the Druid's. Of course there is much more than I am writing, and I am paraphrasing.
Two Roman soldier's desert the army because of their failed attempt of mutiny. One soldier has been cursed by a Druid, and can not speak. The soldiers wander until they find an abandoned cabin only to discover they are in the Druid's cabin when they find his stash of potions.
They begin experimenting with the potions one at a time to see what effect they may have. The soldier will try anything to get his buddy to speak. At this point the speechless soldier can begin to speak. They take another potion and it seems it is a halucignin. As the high levels off, they puke, and the speechless soldier begins to speak. They try another potion, and the soldier who now speaks makes a ubiquitous discovery.
He begins to share his epiphany: " Have you noticed that everywhere we go there are different god's? Some are elephants, some are birds, some are bees, some are trees, ours are are many. We pray to Jupiter, we pray to Mars for a favorable war, we have a god for soap, we have a god for swords, we have god for everything, and everyday we pray to Pino the god of boots, and no where else does anybody have a god of boots."
His partner chimes in. " Boots are important we don't want them to fall off or bust a strap." " No we don't, but every day we pray to Pino, and know one else has a god for their boots! I wonder if our god's are real?" He stands and looks up to the sky. Jupiter strike me down with a bolt of lightening, for I have cut off a fellow soldiers head!" He waits and nothing happens. Then a scene break. " What where we talking about" (The drug has wore off.) "O ya the boot." "Ya the boot."
This made me chuckle because all theist have their time of question. Is my god real? And yet the theist most of the time forget the question and they go on blindly believing
