How much do you value gratitude as an ingredient to a peaceful life?
Ther is always something to be grateful for. I reflect that I am grateful that my ex-wife is my ex wife, instead of dwelling on the bad things that happened. I think it is a lot like the "glass half full" mentality. I know for me, I can drown in negativity if I dwell on bad things.
Gratitude is one of the pillars of my philosophy. I am grateful every day, for the kindnesses I receive, the opportunities to give kindness, the fun I have the pleasure that I get and give, fresh fruit, a good steak. The love of my children, the opportunity I have to love them,. My cat loves me, and I love her. Gratitude and kindness are what makes my world go round.
I like reading your comments. Your education is easy to see, and your comments are interesting and spot on. A few years ago I decided my religion would be kindness, and my prayer would be gratitude. I hadn't been religious in 50 years prior to that decision. I read Dalai Lama and he said "Be kind whenever possible. And it's always possible." That connected a number of feelings I've had over the years. Gratitude was easy to put in the mix. because I've been fortunate, or lucky, most of my life. Last April I had a heart attack. Not fun. When they put the stent in, a piece of plaque dislodged and wound up in my brain. Stroke. I'm recovering well. I get around with a walker and plan to use a walking stick, soon. Sweetsari, I very much hope to hear from you again. Willie
