Well done, patriarchy, which predates Christianity and which Christianity happily adopted as a given (along with slavery, indentured servitude and a bunch of other awful stuff) as it knew nothing else. To me this is one of the evidences against scriptures being inspired by a benevolent and perfectly moral being. It always leads from behind on stuff that it could have been a game-changer about. The Bible could have advanced humanity by thousands of years with game-changing ideas. It didn't.
