Hell hadn't existed in Christianity...until priestesses were kicked out.

The concept of hell owes more to Hellenistic influences and to Dante than to scripture. I no longer think it can be justified even from holy writ.

Atheist can do things without the expectation of reward or punishment. The threat of hell modivates by fear. If one does good things simply due to fear of self harm they can not do things out of selflessness.
