Private companies step in where there is a void.
Our National Parks and Refuges need turned into private land trusts that will be funded by citizens and corporate sponsors so they would no longer be pillaged by politicians or used in a political game of chess.
That was a good read. Just the other week on this site I had argued with a socialist over privatization, and he said privatizing doesn't work. The above is a classic example of why we could do with far less government involvement.
I posted the following on my Facebook page yesterday - about Pu'uhonua O Honaunau [City of Refuge on Hawai'i island (where I live)] -
"As of yesterday, Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 2:00 p.m., Honaunau was cleaner than it has ever been. Thanks to the (Mauna Kea Kia'i and others). I don't know all of those that participated, but yesterday, when we . . . arrived at 12:30, somebodies had beat us to the trash cans - and all we had to do was to put on the finishing touches. And . . . and buddies had cleaned up this past Saturday. For now, Honaunau is in good shape, better than when "Big Brother" was operating. Just de-occupy and go home. We can handle.
De-occupation? Yes. History reveals that the so-called "Annexation" of Hawai'i by the u.s. - by treaty - never happened - and Hawai'i has been "occupied" since 1893. There is an independence movement going on and making progress.
And, regional chapters of the Libertarian party, particularly in DC, are personally doing cleanup in that area.
Damn skippy they are.....practice what you preach.
I used my truck yesterday to haul off trash with a group of volunteers at our local National Wildlife Refuge. We emptied over 50 trash locations and we also restocked toilet paper into the restrooms around the park. We had over 400 rolls donated.
@SkotlandSkye Ya, don't see the Rs or Ds organizing anything like this. Shocker!
This is good news but some campgrounds are just being closed because even with volunteers, bathroom toilets are at capacity. Oh and I will add, Trump is a fucking POS and his administration is a train wreck.
Putting all the public lands into non-profit Land Trusts would eliminate them being held hostage by ANY administration. Also, it would prevent politicians from selling them out to developers of any kind.
@SkotlandSkye
Interesting idea - there’s a rally for public land at the capital in Helena, MT tomorrow - I’ll be curious to see if that idea comes up.
