I had always heard that a lot of pathogens were species specific (Rabies for instance not withstanding). So if you aren't allergic, it would be unlikely that associating with your pet would make you sick. I'd never seen it from the other direction though.
I guess it makes sense that enhanced exposure to human characteristics including pathogens would enhance your risk. I hope you'll excuse me if I don't test it. Lol.

My takeaways.
Don't eat human brains. I'd also avoid nearly all the organs, actually.
Except for the skin, which is the largest organ.
I like pork rinds.
Good article. You never know when you're going to be on a plane that crashes in the mountains, or another remote area where food is scarce.

@TheInterlooper There's a lot of skin there. If it came down to dying of starvation or eating butt skin, what would you do?

Although, now that I'm thinking about it, that is also where a lot of people have their brains. So, maybe not.
