So basically the same people who criticize all her other comments are criticizing this one too and that amounts to "backlash"? Looks like the post got 85k likes too.......

I think the media needs to stop using twitter as an outrage gauge....

Obviously, we are all supposed to stop everything else in our lives to be concerned about these 49 people. What about the other 150,000+ who day each day? Thousands from violence.

Yes is was heinous. But so have been the 32,000+ religious based attacks perpetrated by muslims since 9-11, avg. two per day.

She'll be demonized by the far right no matter what she says or does. Shes a brilliant, strong female which scares them the core. They are behaving like the cornered animals that they are.

I agree with her, but it probably wasn't wise to say it in that way.

Some of us, and that apparently includes A.O.C. have decided that our lives and those of our fellow earthlings are not controlled by a supreme being, so dealing in "thoughts and prayers" must be recognized as being of no use whatsoever. Now if the person mourning believes s/he gets comfort from such, I do not advise telling him/her that doing so is foolish. On the other hand, if someone is seriousl injured or seriously ill, what is needed is medial care and medicines, not thoughts and prayers. There is no scientific recordo f someone saved on the basis of thoughts or prayers. If there were, doctors and hspitals would be out of business.

Is there anything about her comments that isn't true? And the bible thumping pious republicans jump on her ,but not when Trump incites to violence. The shooter in New Zealand even mentioned the white supremacists in the US that TRump never criticizes. remember the nice guys on both sides. Excuse me. If you identify as a nazi and you are present at a nazis march, you aren't a nice guy. What Trump has said many times is much more worthy of condemnation than what AOC said. What hypocrisy?

Thoughts and prayers have become tired and trite. It's code for, another gun death, or deaths, and nothing's going to get done about it, so all you're left to hold is thoughts and prayers. AOC just pointed it out and all those shouting "snowflake" are being all offended because people notice how full of crap they are.
