Well, I can't fully agree. If you know the system well and know how to use the bank's offers correctly, everything gets easier and more accessible for anyone. Market forces are definitely a faith-based system. I'd say that currency itself, as representative of commodity, isn't a problem, but market speculation, investment stocks, commodity futures, etc., are elements that make an economy akin to religion. I think capitalism as it is played at the moment is very destructive of the societies that practice it, creating cycles of activity and wealth and poverty. We need a new system that inhibits the generation of such huge differences in wealth and incomes that capitalism alloys to build up. Unfortunately the current possessors of the excess wealth would be extremely unwilling to see any changes that would mean that they would be less well off than they now are, so would use their wealth and resulting power to thwart any proposed changes that gave more equity to the masses.

I think what you are saying is very accurate in the way the religion is practiced and has been practiced. However, the way religion is practiced is also totally contrary to their own doctrines and scriptures. This is because religion (and dogma) is just one more excuse or justification used to solidify power in the upper classes. It also, in part, is why Marx said, "religion is the opium of the masses."
