Supposedly some of the money is used by NGOs to help farmers,...
I figger the recipients are then required to pay tribute to the armies who are the actual gangs.
what are we supposed to do?

Not knowing much about the root causes of the violence in these countries I found the following article that provides a good overview.

[cfr.org]

It explains how the US has inadvertently contributed to the problems, but it is also clear that cutting off funding will only make the problems worse and lead to an increase in asylum seekers.

@SeaGreenEyez The Talking Yam. LOL... I like that.

@SeaGreenEyez LOL...Same here.

these countries are considered some of the most violent in the west. our money is being used by the militaries.... we should invade.

@SeaGreenEyez What should we do? Those places are real hellholes. Give them more money? Settle all their citizens in iowa?

@SeaGreenEyez .. This is much more complicated than any lefties are able to voice.
We are in deep shit. 100,000 at this border in march. WTF are we going to do?

@SeaGreenEyez .. .. Your point? The lefties are denying there is a crisis. How does that help anybody? The righties are so stuoopidly ignorant as to think a wall is possible.
we are in deep shit.
It costs $30 a day per person to live in the in US. How many citizens are volunteering to accept these people into their homes, to burdon the costs, and the changes to their lives?
100,000 per month is more than a million a year. And these are just those who are legally allowed entrance. An estimated 20% are entering illegally.
This is complicated.
What do you propose we do?

Which is like saying too many family members keep using the upstairs toilet because the downstairs toilet stinks, so we will blow up the downstairs toilet and that will stop them using the upstairs one.

With charity comes interference and manipulation. The US has a long history of interfering in Central American politics and economics. Usually to the detriment of the countries within which they interfered.

Between supporting despotic right wing leaders and direct CIA interference in politics in El Salvador (remember the Iran-contra debacle), to forcible monocropping by the big agricultural corporations which destroyed locally economies, the US has a checkered history in Central America. Aide comes with conditions. Often the conditions are based on the political whims of the time and not what is best for the people in that country. Often they are decisions based on somebody who is either related to someone who has a company that has economic intetests down and stand to gain financially, or are paid by lobbyists representing same said corporations.
