I learned some history from this article and how Nevada became a state and one Dakota became two, thus giving Republicans control of the Senate. Soon we may find that only 16 senators represent half the population of the US, while the other 84 mostly come from less populous red states. That will make it very difficult for the Democrats to gain control of the Senate unless the residents in the red states become more progressive.
