LINK One Catholic Priest Destroyed the Entire Mayan Written Language

"The New York Times described the decipherment of the Maya hieroglyphs as “one of the great stories of twentieth century scientific discovery.” Tragically, this decipherment was only necessary because of a one-man Spanish Inquisition, a deliberate, decades-long campaign by a single Catholic priest to destroy the Mayan language and culture. The priest, Diego de Landa, wiped out all knowledge of the written language, and nearly destroyed the spoken language too."

Destroying any culture means destroying everything. Slaves in this country were denied their original languages, religions, customs -- they were beaten or killed if expressed by the slaves. Ancient Egypt did it with the Jews. The Catholic church was huge on destroying or absorbing other cultures for Christianity. If one searches, they can find a myriad of examples of this. The Internet has been instrumental in bringing forth many of these human atrocities.

Unfortunately its true. Zealots the world over do irreparable harm.
