To be or not to be?

Are all dictators really that bad?
Should Saddam Hussein or Colonel Qaddafi been forcibly removed from power by US led rebels?

Before) Electricity, water, jobs, infrastructure, oil, well trained military, safety, small number of deaths of extremists

After) Death, destroyed buildings, no water, no electricity, no infrastructure, no oil, debt to America, non-existent military, terrorist war-lords, large number of civilian casualties, mass migration, corruption in government and military, fewer jobs

"To be or not to be?"

That is the question!

"Are all dictators really that bad?"

Usually but not necessarily always.

"Should Saddam Hussein or Colonel Qaddafi been forcibly removed from power by US led rebels?"

It's impossible to know after their ousting because we cannot know what leaving them in place would have resulted in.

"Before) Electricity, water, jobs, infrastructure, oil, well trained military, safety, small number of deaths of extremists"

?

"After) Death, destroyed buildings, no water, no electricity, no infrastructure, no oil, debt to America, non-existent military, terrorist war-lords, large number of civilian casualties, mass migration, corruption in government and military, fewer jobs"

Oh I see... well things may have been worse had an invasion not occurred & they may have been better but there's no way to know this after the events which occurred.

I mostly agree with you however what America did was invade foreign countries without any knowledge of the cultures or traditions of the people. They proceeded to remove the current leader and install their attempt at middle eastern democracy. Democracy doesn't work in the Middle East though. The culture doesn't allow for such a weak willed system. They needed a strong leader who killed extremist groups before they started bombing cities and torturing civilians like ISIS.

I know we cannot predict how things would have turned out if we left those 2 in power but do you honestly think that it's better now that the people have been attacked and butchered at the hands of the taliban or ISIS? They used to have a promising future but now their countries are nothing but ruins. I'm sure they are really happy that their families are dead and their homes destroyed.

Besides. Have you seen the Iraqi army today? They're a bunch of cowards who have minimum training and even less honour. Anyone who runs from the enemy and leaves their people to die is weak and should be punished. The soldiers didn't even try to evacuate civilians. They just ran away. Is that even a military? At least with the dictators you had a well trained and disciplined military.

The primary reason why Iraq is still hurting, is that all the oil money from Iraqi oil, is going to British and American oil companies instead of the Iraqis. There were never any weapons of mass destruction. It was all about going in and grabbing the oil. In Afghanistan they were only concerned with building an oil pipeline to the Caspian Sea, so the rest of the country was left open, and the Taliban returned. When ti comes to wars, to find the real goals of the war, not they say they are, but what they really are, you have to look at what actually happens or is accomplished by the war in terms of money and profits.

Some dictators are worse than others. I think many start out with good intentions, but as the saying goes, "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." most dictators get to power by means of killing a lot of other people. Having got power the y use the military to retain power. Most are insecure about their position, as they know another person can rise to overthrow them, just as they overthrew the last guy, so they crack down hard and kill more people who are of real or imagined threats to them. They are always wary or paranoid of gettign a knife in teh back.

Good point. I'm guessing you know why the gulf war between Iraq and Kuwait really started? The Kuwaiti oil companies were using slant drilling to steal billions of dollars worth of oil from Iraq. Saddam went to the US ambassador to resolve this and was told to sort it out himself. Hence why he invaded, because the only language all people understand is the action of a loaded gun pointed in their direction.

So Saddam was actually the victim. It's hidden history so not many people know about it except the locals and expats who lived there at the time.

It's funny how colonel Qaddafi who built the first all female military academy and said "Women should have access to training which will allow them to protect their families the same as men". The same man who built the largest man made river in the world in order to irrigate the desert and provide more fertile farmland. The same man who wanted Africa to form an African union similar to the European union. Who gave women $500 when they gave birth to help with costs. The same man who had his country illegally bombed by the US forces who butchered orphanages and hospitals, left dead in the streets, including his son who was killed during the first wave of bombing. Sounds like the US is very fond of preemptive strikes on civilians.
