Uhhhh ... proving that people ARE stupid and that the "dumbing down" syndrome is real.
So there I was, glued to the TV watching the weatherman explain the cone where the tornado, already on the ground, could possibly go. My apartment was near the east edge, my rentals near the west edge. Then the TV goes off with the electricity. Cookies totally fried now I go down to the laundry room with my chihuahua and sit between the wall and washing machine waiting for the radar to load on my phone. Halfway through loading a pop-up appears, "Do I need insurance?", now I have to wait for that to load before I can delete it and get back to radar. Long story short, the tornado missed me by 3 blocks and my rentals by 5 miles. To be honest I am thankful T-Mobile worked at all, screw Accuweather, the one time my life depended on it a pop-up covers the radar. Seems like they'd have an algorthym that would tell them, "Fuck, there's a tornado there, let's avoid covering the radar with pop-ups". BTW, I live in Jefferson City, I was told it was a F3.
I keep trying to explain to peopel that "climate change" measn more extreme weather (both hot and cold). That means more rrequent and stronger storms, as in hurricanes and tornadoes, more wild fires, more droughts, more floods. The last couple of years could very easily become our new "normal", but that is about the best we can expect at this point, Things can and will get much worse.
One thing about weather is that we know nothing about it before we began recording it. This could be a part of the Earth's cycle.
