Can someone give me your thoughts on Anton Szandor LaVey?
Don't claim to have examined him super close, but my impression is that he was a bit of an iconoclast / auteur / provacateur and just generally a "character".
I don't know how much the current Church of Satan has evolved from the LaVey days but I find their trolling of theists with their Baphomet statues to be hilarious. Since they don't believe in a literal Satan I have no issue with them, even though being part of that would not be my thing.
