It's probably an idea to distract the discussion, but if this is a serious consideration they would better
give them lead balls of about 1", but let them practice with it too. Make contest games in the schools. Than it can be quite effective. Also smaller ones with catapults would work too. Just an idea.
But against a professional assault weapon it's really the last option before they get shot anyway.
