Here's the thing---I've seen scores of dik-diks in Africa and am always enamored with them! They're so tiny that flight to avoid being eaten is useless. So...they freeze in place, which makes it easy for us to see them if we're driving in a safari van. You need a good ''eye'' to spot one and when you do....it's the biggest ''awwwwwww'' you've ever said!

Nothing has a right to be that cute.

You should see their impossibly tiny hooves! They seem surprisingly brave, living in shrubby areas of African savannas. You're driving along (slowly, of course) and you see a ''frozen'' dik-dik. And you think about evolution and how it all works. Marvelous!

By the way, LA Zoo, where I do education, has just announced we have a new PUDU baby. The pudu is the New World equivalent of a dik-dik. Google one.

@LucyLoohoo Too freakin' cute!

@resserts Cheetahs, Batteleur eagles, hyenas, leopards and even lion cubs love them, too! But, it has nothing to do with cuteness.
