Some take away notes: "a brutish, stocky group of primitive humans who could only grunt to communicate and violently wield their clubs before anyone who got too close." sounds like some republicans. "...were very inbred..." tRump supporters.

All comedy aside this could easily be a foretelling of our fate.
"... climatic changes meant that it was not enough to ensure their survival...."
"In their last years on Earth, it would not have taken much competition from other humans, animals or disease to finish them off."

Yeah, but there were a hell of lot fewer of them than there are of us. Not that climate change and related problems won't eventually do us in, but it won't be easy or quick.

@Tomfoolery33 It wasn't for them either. Perhaps some alien force will come to Earth and find our remains and try to assess what happened. I think if they got to the level of interplanetary travel they would have evolved past the stupidity stage.

They probably lived pretty good, until Humans came along. One of the more curious things about Neanderthal sites is that tethering stakes for (prehistoric) horses have been found. But we can only speculate why? Did they stake them out for the purpose of eating them? Did they keep them as pets? Did they ride them bareback? We don't know.

It didn't sound like Homo Sapiens Sapiens had as much to do with their fate as previously believed. It seems more likely another example of failing to adapt. Just like our species at this critical time.

Go to Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, parts of Texas and check it out for yourself.
