Emphasis on "tend to"
Why is it that "conservatives" tend to
And "liberals" tend to
Why do "atheists" tend to be "liberal"?
I mean, I get some of the platform groupings, but some are weird. Like distrust of government would naturally lead you against government-based programs. And certain religious views lead to stances against abortion or gay rights. But it isn't clear to me how those all fit together. For example: being against government in general, but pro-military seem like antagonistic stances to take, imo.
Likewise with typical "liberal" platform things: why is a liberal platform more in favor of government welfare programs? Is it the secular nature of modern democratic governments? Why would a liberal point of view also tend towards atheism? I don't quite understand how those two are bound.
Mind you, this is more of a test post into this community than anything else. I kinda answered some of my own questions just by typing it out.
Power in numbers. Once a statement of intent is made other groups who decide they don't like those points and create their own. Then the flocking to preferred parties shift and people decide which are their more important points.
I don't know about liberals just being ok with elicit drugs but more trying to manage drug use on a more humane level than just criminalizing and locking up people. If that's the automatic reaction then you can't actually help an addict clean up. They hide as much as they can and then end up causing others more harm trying to feed that habit they are trying to hide.
I think Atheists tend towards the liberal side because liberals tend to make a point in educating themselves, reading things outside their own comfort zones, and look harder and dig deeper into most subjects. They tend to still be pretty humane over all.
Well stated!
