I don't have time to watch this whole clip right now, but I do wonder often times what the core political ideas of some of these people who have been seen frequently in the news lately are. I have started watching another clip with Hasan, it was informative but I found a certain premise he was working from as problematic. I should watch video before I comment further.

I have learned much from Hasan. would be interested in what doesnt resonate with you. I often overlook things as have a tendency to digest what resonates and skip over what doesnt quickly, not thinking much about it.

@gigihein I did get back to the clip and I didn't disagree with too much. I find Hasan's attitude to be more in line with a young adult, versus Ellison who is more mature and level-headed. Hasan says things that are very extreme and does not display a more well thought out response as Ellison has. I understand this is Hasan's show and probably geared towards a younger audience. When he discusses protests he only refers to property damage, minimizing that itself, and never talks about deaths and injuries that occurred during protests. Did he not know (how could he not, he appears well informed) or does he not feel these are indeed important lives too?

Additionally, this is a side note, I think some leniency is due to the one or two officers in Floyd death who were brand new on the job. I think Ellison had previously stated getting a conviction on all four would not be easy. He was probably referring to that situation. I don't know how in depth the training is to be a police officer, but in many jobs you are expected to follow lead of the experienced staff and I don't know if the other officers could be viewed as responsible for the decision making here. I understand Ellison's thinking if that's what he meant in previous comments.

I was not familiar with Jamar Clark case, but found these two articles.

I can't seem to find the other article I wanted to link. It talked about witnesses saying Clark was possibly handcuffed, but there were differing accounts. Anyway just doing a Google search you learn more about the case. I am surprised that given all the evidence that was mentioned in the article regarding case including Clark DNA that Ellison would think of it as being police misconduct and therefore relevant to this particular discussion. I wonder where Ellison gets that perspective from? Like what completely contrary evidence is he going by? For me DNA evidence is pretty conclusive and that supported story of a violent struggle with Clark following a violent struggle mentioned in article I linked above. And the other evidence too. The witness testimony contradicts itself and that is completely understandable given how quickly this occurred and how memory can play tricks in scenarios like this. Also the account of Clark mistakenly thinking of woman as his mom and that he attacked? That says a lot about Clark's state of mind at the time. Found the article.

@Flowerwall I have always attributed this to the fact that he is a comedian.His praying was comedy,, as the silliness. From my perspective. He has children and has his brown skin in the game for sure.

@gigihein I have only watched a couple of clips of Hasan. I did find the one educational. I didn't know his main idea was comedy. I get some of it is exaggerated for comedic effect, but is that the main intent of his shows? Laughter? I don't think so here. Unfortunately, the most difficult realities of life are not very funny at all.

He comes across as being younger than a father. I would not have guessed he had children.

@Flowerwall I have seen lots of his stuff. He can be quite serious and passionate about social injustice.

@gigihein His kids are very young. He hasn't been a parent too long. I will watch more of the educational videos when I get a chance. I read some of his stuff is more relatable to current popular characters in music, trending celebrity culture, etc. that doesn't hold much interest for me. The other stuff might.

@gigihein Well this is old now, but until I hear more regarding Jamar Clark case that would make all evidence I have heard up until this point irrelevant, I feel Ellison's position is clouded by other feelings or agenda that has not been fully laid out here or in other information I have read.

@StarvingArtist @bobwjr @dermot235
It gives me hope that those in power will do something regardless if backlash. Or at least some of those in power.
