The movie " The African Queen" was filmed in what was then the Belgian Congo. Its producers sent an advance party over, to get the movie set ready . And while there, they hired a local villager to go out and hunt wild game for them .
The hunter would go out each day, and return in the evening with what he called
'long pig' carcasses . Well, the film crew had a swell time barbecuing the 'long pig', until one day, a company of soldiers stopped by, looking for their camp hunter. It seems that villagers were disappearing, and that they were the source of the ' long pig'. (True story!!). Any time I think of a pig roast, I can't help but think about ' long pig'.
