Do you think that healthcare should be a non profit business like Blue Cross Blue Shield was at one time?Everyone wanted their insurance because it was better then most plans.
Hey, Marine. At one time, all healthcare in America was non-profit. Before 1973 it was illegal to profit from health care. Nixon signed into law, the Health Maintenance Organization Act of 1973, in which medical insurance agencies, hospitals, clinics and even doctors, could begin functioning as for-profit business entities instead of the service organizations they were intended to be. And which insurance company got the first taste of federal subsidies to implement HMOA73.
Many people in this country do not understand that we are a Republic and they cannot distinguish between our governmental structure of a "representative democracy", as opposed to a "pure democracy, and our economic system, Capitalism. Our capitalist economy is controlled by the Federal Reserve Bank.
The Federal Reserve System considers itself "an independent central bank because its monetary policy decisions do not have to be approved by the President or anyone else in the executive or legislative branches of government. In other words, it's the Fed, investment banks, multi-national corporations and the "Uber Rich" who control our economy.
Now think about why no one from the financial services industry responsible for the crash in 2008 were ever prosecuted after the government bailed them out. So, yes, health care should be non-profit, like every other developed country on the planet.
Thank you for the information as it was very enlighting. WE really must getr control of the country back in the hands of the people as those who have been in charge have not done us anu good.
