It's not surprising that Mencken was Antidemocracy. He was an America First, ambivalent to the Third Reich, a racist, antisemite. It's not surprising that he was against democratic principles. For you to be against them is surprising.

Not antidemocratic, just think along the lines of George Carlin where he observed that we have stupid politicians because they're us... and we have a stupid public.

@Bobby9 We are a Democratic Republic. A form of democracy. So who do you think should choose our leaders? US currently is a reactionary electorate. That's not good but would you prefer a military junta?

@Bobby9 Form of democracy which may not be up to your standards. Would you prefer a Aristocracy. A communist party chairman like DPRK? President for Life like PRC? Dictatorship like Russian Federation?

@Bobby9 Not a pure democracy, representative democracy. We're not Russia or Belarus with fake elections. Or People's Democratic Republic of Korea which despite the name is the most repressive dictatorship of the planet.
