LINK This Pastor Left His Own Church Because It Was Too Full of Trump Supporters | Beth Stoneburner | Friendly Atheist | Patheos

For 30 years, Keith Mannes served as pastor for the East Saugatuck Christian Reformed Church in Michigan.

He gave his final sermon last week — and not because he was in any rush to retire. Mannes knew his church, by and large, supports Donald Trump. That means even if they worship the same God, their values are very, very different.

It shows some religious people have some sense. Maybe, that will cause to loose his faith in bs and decide to be an Atheist.

I have many friends who are Episcopalians and they are growing very fast since Trump was elected.

I know two different preachers recently retired one from the Methodist and one from the Christian church and they both have started going to our local Episcopalian Church. Not everyone there is liberal politically but they are all liberal regarding human rights.

Now that pastor has to realize that religion is the opiate of the masses. One of the few good things to come from Karl Marx, who contrary to popular belief (on this site) was not a good guy.

@MaryJane He had some good ideas. Some things about his manifesto were good. He was a horrible racist and a although born a Jew he was a vicious antisemite. He was had no work ethic and was also a plagiarist. Much of Das Kapital was stolen from Fredrich Engels. Most of his actual writings were racist diatribes.

@MaryJane Karl Marx did a great job identifying the excesses of capitalism and how it causes great suffering. However, his proposed solution was terrible. You can't disrupt an economy with revolution and expect there to be qualified peopel ready to build a more equal economy out of the destruction.

The countries of Northern Europe, who practice democratic socialism had a better concept of gradual change to creat a mroe equal society.

@snytiger6 This is a good read to see what kind of person Karl Marx was. [intellectualtakeout.org]
