These days fascism means something slightly different, it seems to me. It only secondarily applies to the economy to me; it has more to do with a more general control over all aspects of life including politics, religion, culture, societies' mores and values, everything.
That's why I think of Christians, for instance, as fascists; but they're just an example. In the America of supposed free speech and thought, many groups are fascist; for that matter many individual people are as well.
Fascists have admitted that they push and use religion. Religion uses authoritarianism, indoctrination, self-righteousness, self-justification, and control.
"FOR HOW SHALL WE FILL PEOPLE WITH BLIND FAITH in the correctness of a doctrine, if we ourselves spread uncertainty and doubt by constant changes in its outward structure? Here, too, we can learn by the example of the Catholic Church. Though its doctrinal edifice, and in part quite superfluously, COMES INTO COLLISION WITH EXACT SCIENCE AND RESEARCH, it is none the less unwilling to sacrifice so much as one little syllable of its dogmas - IT IS ONLY SUCH DOGMAS WHICH LEND TO THE WHOLE BODY THE CHARACTER OF A FAITH." [Adolf Hitler, "Mein Kampf" Vol. 2 Chapter 5]
"I have followed [the Church] in giving our party program the character of unalterable finality, like the Creed. The Church has never allowed the Creed to be interfered with. It is fifteen hundred years since it was formulated, but every suggestion for its amendment, every logical criticism, or attack on it, has been rejected. The Church has realized that ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING can be built up on a document of that sort, no matter how contradictory or irreconcilable with it. THE FAITHFUL WILL SWALLOW IT WHOLE, SO LONG AS LOGICAL REASONING IS NEVER ALLOWED TO BE BROUGHT TO BEAR ON IT" [Adolf Hitler, from Rauschning, The Voice of Destruction, pp. 239-40]
"Humankind has evolved to the point that they are conscious of their own mortality."/
VP Henry Wallace was a great man. It's a shame American Fascists forced FDR to replace him with Harry Truman, a racist who dropped the Atom Bomb rather than let Japanese negotiate Potsdam Treaty with Russia. Your post is a little hard to read, I rewrote the quote.
Quote of the Week:
"The American fascists are most easily recognized by their deliberate perversion of truth and fact. Their newspapers and propaganda carefully cultivate every fissure of disunity ..They claim to be super-patriots, but they would destroy every liberty guaranteed by the Constitution. They demand free enterprise, but are the spokesmen for monopoly and vested interest. Their final objective toward which all their deceit is directed is to capture political power so that, using the power of the state and the power of the market simultaneously, they may keep the common man in eternal subjection."
Vice President Henry A. Wallace, April 9, 1944.
Yes, I don't know how to get past this. I have it the right way up on the photo but no matter what I do it comes up the wrong way. Well a bit of neck exercise is fine sometimes.
