When I was working on my second undergraduate degree at CU-Boulder, I joined the Objectivist Club. I even became the Secretary for the organization. I first discovered Ayn Rand at the end of my very first Semester in college. I even completed an Indepedent Study in Philosophy on Ayn Rand.

But it was as the Secretary of the Objectivists, ten years after discovering Ayn Rand that I realized that about 80%of the Libertarians and Objectivists do not understand the concept of "Selfishness".

If you really want to understand the concept of "Selfishness" read Stephan Jay Gould, not Ayn Rand.

Gould is nastier & more subhuman than Rand? Thanks for the warning!

Steve Gould wasa brilliant guy and a humanitarian. Ayn Rand was a hateful subhuman.

@barjoe

Exactly Gould was one if the premier minds in biology and evolution the last 30 years. He truly was a genius.

Ayn Rand was a dyed in the wool, flat out fascist.

@Hages She described fascism as socialism for the rich. In fact, Capitalism is socialism for the rich. Fascism is not an economic system, it's a political philosophy void of empathy for the people. That's her. She had no empathy. She described sympathy as wasteful and stupid, she advocated selfishness. She was an incredible fucking piece of shit.

@Hages Nietzsche was not a fascist or an antisemite. After his death, the writings of Nietzsche were bastardized by his younger sister Elisabeth, who unlike her brother Frederiche, was pro fascist and an early Nazi. Her funeral in 1935 was attended by Adolf Hitler and early Nazi hierarchy.
