LINK Freshman lawmaker hit with colleagues’ fury after Hitler comments - POLITICO

This was easy to miss in the utter shitstorm that was the past week, but here we have a Congressperson in office less than one week, talking to the conservative Moms for America about brainwashing kids to vote Republican- and invoking Hitler to do it.

Illinois' Mary Miller said conservatives would lose unless "we win the hearts and minds of our children. This is the battle. Hitler was right on one thing. He said, ‘Whoever has the youth has the future.’”

She was immediately hit with demands for her resignation from Congressional leadership, including from her own party, despite issuing a barrage of rote apologies which did nothing whatsoever to address how horribly misguided she is in the first place. Initiating children into a political party is something we associate with dictatorships. Maybe that's why the Hitler reference in the first place.

And, lest we forget, Miller is one of the pack who call themselves "conservatives" but are, in reality, radical religious zealots who want to turn the clock back to- oh, the 17th Century, when it was illegal to confess any belief except membership in the Protestant church, and blasphemy was a crime punishable by death. And she herself would not have been able to run for any public office. But then again, thinking things through has never been a strong suit with these folks.
